George Abela resigns from MEUSAC, PL
George Abela has resigned from the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee and from the Labour Party in view of his forthcoming nomination to the presidency.
Dr Abela said he had asked Dr Muscat to replace him at MEUSAC, where he has been representing the PL since the autumn. He also resigned from the party.
Dr Abela thanked Dr Muscat for his confidence in having nominated him to MEUSAC.
He also thanked MEUSAC head Vanni Xuereb for the positive experience in MEUSAC.

Its amazing that every single article on this website which contains the name of one (or more) politician(s) ends up as an "us" and "them" argument between supporters of the PL and PN . The same stories are re-iterated all over ad naseum with a fervour matched only by the most extreme of fanatics and fundamentalists. Its not that I think people should not be interested in the running of their country - far from it. However it would be nice if there were a few more constructive comments every now and then...

@Gianninu Saliba: If PM Gonzi can't convince the EU on the burden sharing the PL will win with a landslide. I'm not saying that Joseph would be the answer to the illegal immigration issue. But the people will be looking for a change. I'm a PN supporter. If the general election is tomorrow the Facebook group Save Malta From Illegal Immigrants with it's 3000 members and still growing fast will endorse Joeph Muscat. We expect to have 30,000 members in 2013.

Lil Gianninu Saliba nghidlu li miskin qed tohrogli qalbi ghalih u qed jaqbizli d-dmugh kemm jixtiqilna gid lil-Laburisti kieku bqajna b'George Abela fil-partit. Jixtieq li nkunu fil-Gvern miskin. U mur hallina Gan!! Tahseb int li kieku tela George Abela bhala mexxej kontu se thalluh bla kritika u hmieg kif tafu taghmlu tal-PN. Ara x'ghamiltulu lil Alfred Sant. U issa jigi jghid Gonzi li were maturita politika. Il-"maturita" politika wriha biss hu, tant li lanqas shabu fil-partit ma kienu jafu bl-ghazla tieghu. Taf fix kien kien matur, li ghazel lil Abela bhala president kienet ghazla politika biex jiskorja punti mal-elettorat u n-nies jghidu "ara kemm hu orrajt ghazel wiehed minn taghhom". Hallina Gianninu!!

Sorry, I forgot to mention... the PL did not only lose Dr. George Abela but the lost three General Elections, a Referendum and any creadibility. They've changed their name, their Leader and their ideology. They were against privatization, EU membership, adoption of the Euro and everything else that made Malta the great nation it is today.

@ G Mangion
George Abela had to resign fom PL because as a President if Malta it is unetichal to be a member of a political party. As far as I know even EFA suspended his membership from the NP when was elected as President

Joanna Farrugia believes that there are two Prime Ministers, shame she is so used to having two within her Party... two Deputy Leaders, two sharing the authority of the Secretary General of the Party and two Party Leaders who end up in Parliament without having contested a General Election. But then to make things worse for PL, they lost George Abela as he resigned from their infamous Party. Labour lost their Kaka.

Thanks George for the work you did in our party .
You are making our pride more realistic and with your presidency you make our party more understandable . This is what our party is trying to make everyone understand . At last this country is realising that PL leaders are capable to lead too
Thanks to both parties for giving us this opportunity . In the name of loads of labourites we are delighted for this opportunity and definitly makes us proud of being so .
Good luck President

@ Gianninu Saliba
I was told the story of when Nationalist mobs shouted at Mintoff 'Sallbu, Sallbu' when he waned to send the military colonizers away from our islands.
When are you Nationalists going to face the reality and stop the old rhetoric about the 80's? PN apologists do their best to switch history in order to accustom their own needs. Luckily enough very few people are still being affected with this pathetic behaviour.
Gianninu Saliba is desperate to outcome the number of bloggers who express their satisfaction for the Labour Party. Fortunately Dr Muscat is not lost in pulling carpets from under the feet of his opponents. He is down to business, presenting politics of substance without the need of any corrections.
Mr.Saliba, the George Abela issue would soon be over. In five years time Gonzi would still be enjoying rides on your imaginary "flying carpet" which he recently stole from Dr.Muscat. At this pace, Joseph will also be flying, but on flying colours when the election results are officially announced!

I remember the days when the Socialist mob used to sing "Dan ic-centinarju taghna" and they have been the losers since 1981. Now they are talking of a landslide victory. Do they really believe that they have a chance of winning? What with Joseph as their Leader? Surely they must be kidding themselves. This isn't a question of David (Muscat) defeating Goliath (Gonzi). This is a matter of Prime Minister Gonzi being able to pull the carpet from underneath Joseph's feet again and again and again. The flying carpet that Muscat had will be moving to San Anton in April. Shame, now he only has Jason to back him up as I am sure that he has lost the loyalty of Alfred. I do not know if I must compare Dr. Gonzi's initiative to a "stumping" (cricket terminology) or "check mate" (chess terminology). This is as things stand. Wait until the world crisis is over and the Government utilize the millions of Euros coming from the EU. Only then can the landslide occur. Do I have to say who the losers will be?... PL of course.

It is a real oity that our constitution does not allow the President to have an administrative role in the running of the country, as I am sure Dr Abela would make a good leader.I sincerely hope that the PL have realised what they lost.Jason Micallef should resign forthwith for having said what he said on Xarabank some time ago.G.Mangion I sincerely hope you are joking lol
