Rotary Club Gozo presented a cheque for €1,100 to Nicola Carlisi, governor of Rotary District Sicily and Malta, who visited Gozo recently.

The money will go to charitable organisations, most notably the foundation's Polio Plus campaign which is aimed at eradicating the disease worldwide.

Mr Carlisi donated €2,500 to Dar il-Kaptan, founded in 1991, with the help of the Rotary Club.

Apart from helping Dar il-Kaptan, Rotary Club Gozo is raising funds for the Friends of the Sick and Elderly, Oasi, Wirt Għawdex and Happy Moments - a charity in Kenya run by a Gozitan, who is a club member.
