City and Guilds is focusing its energies to strengthen its ties with education in Malta and has always played an integral part of vocational training. Within this ambit, City and Guilds together with its local representative Intel-act recently organised two informative sessions on the great opportunities that it offers to the local market.
A session was dedicated to familiarising stakeholders in education and existing City and Guilds approved centres with the significant number of new vocational qualifications that City and Guilds has recently developed.
Participants were pleased with new areas that City and Guilds has opened up in the process of qualifications development, including customer service, security, health care, IT, business skills and many others.
The event was rendered more outstanding with presentations delivered by Mcast board president Paul Attard and chief executive officer of the National Commission for Higher Education Jacques Sciberras. Both emphasised the significance of developing vocational skills within a Maltese economy context.
The second session concentrated on the unique suite of International English Qualifications (IEQs) offered by City and Guilds. There was unanimous agreement that the international recognition of City and Guilds IEQs, as well as their focus on functional communication, will serve to enhance the interest of students from all parts of the globe aspiring to attain a substantial knowledge of English in Malta and acquire an internationally recognised qualification in the process.
