Statue of St Francis of Assisi

The statue was sculpted by Xandru Farrugia in the 19th century. It is a life-size franka stone statue of St Francis of Assisi which is located at Triq Sant' Ursula c/w Triq Santa Luċija.

The saint is holding a crucifix in his right hand and a book in his left hand.

The book is also supported by a child angel who is standing to the saint's left. The statue is standing on a tapered column with moulded panels set within the corner giant pilaster of the building. At the front of the pedestal is a triangular marble plaque with a dedication and indulgences with the date 1883.

Mepa scheduled the statue of St Francis of Assisi as a Grade 1 national monument as per Government Notice number 276/08 in the Government Gazette dated March 28.
