Integra Notes and Integra Quick Reports, developed by Ta' Xbiex-based Shireburn Software Ltd, have both played an important part in a project which has just won IBM's Lotus Award 2009 for the best Philanthropic solution in the 15th annual Lotus Awards.

Integra for Notes is a solution platform which enables the integration of Microsoft Excel and Word with and Lotus Notes data.

Integra premier partner in the United States, PSC Group LLC, won the Best Philanthropy Award for the Zain Africa Challenge (ZAC) project where Shireburn's Integra solution played a significant part.

"Integra was a key part of the solution that PSC created for Zain Africa Challenge that won the Lotus Awards 2009 Best Philanthropy award," said John Head, director of enterprise collaboration, PSC Group, LLC.

"We created many reports using the Integra Reporting Framework that generates very detailed Excel spreadsheet to allow for scoring and content balancing that are used during the content creation and editing phase. We also used the Export to XML functionality as part of our round-trip of Notes Rich Text to the system used to run the live screens during the TV shows. The Integra Framework and the flexibility of the Custom Event model allowed us deliver reports in a fraction of the time than developing the reports from scratch."

The Best Philanthropy award recognises a business partner who has developed and deployed an effective solution for a not-for-profit, environmental or humanitarian effort or in support of broader civic participation.

"Malta is often criticised (particularly in various performance reviews undertaken of the IT sector) that it has little innovation. This is an award received specifically for innovation," commented John de Giorgio, CEO of Shireburn. "We have been working very closely indeed with the IBM Development Lab in China on the development of versions of Lotus Symphony to allow us to undertake the type of functionality we need in our Integra products. We have actually been leading the specification and functionality determination process together with their development lab."

Integra for Notes has also been short-listed among many nominated entries worldwide for IBM's Chief Technology Officer Innovation Award - a category of the Lotus Awards 2009 - which will be judged at Lotusphere 2009 in Orlando, Florida, next week.
