Otters ASC, the Gozitan waterpolo and swimming club, have once again underlined the need for the construction a fresh water heated swimming pool on the sister island.

In a statement, the club said that several years have now passed since the opening of the National Pool at Tal-Qroqq.

Since then, residents on mainland Malta have been blessed with the provision of several other fresh water and heated swimming pools as well as sea-water pools in various other locations and bays.

Otters ASC feel that the Gozitans should be treated equally and that a swimming facility should be constructed on the sister island without any further delay.

To make matters worse, Gozo doesn't even enjoy any sea-water facilities for swimming and waterpolo.

The waterpolo pitch in Marsalforn Bay is situated in open waters and thus at the mercy of mother nature.

The destruction of what remained from the breakwater in Marsalforn has unfortunately provided added risks to all bathers frequenting this popular bay, the statement added.

The club is now urging the authorities to heed to their requests and also to embark on the re-construction of a breakwater in Marsalforn.
