Slovakia joined the euro area on January 1, replacing its national currency, the koruna, with the euro. As a service to the public, all euro area central banks, including the Central Bank of Malta, will exchange without charge koruna banknotes for euro during January and February.

Korunas may be exchanged until February 27 at the Central Bank of Malta Annex at St James's Counterguard, Valletta, from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Banknotes will be exchanged at the irrevocably fixed conversion rate of €1=SKK30.1260 up to a limit of €1,000 per transaction.
