PL says environment central to its policies
Labour leader Joseph Muscat this afternoon promised an improvement in practices having an environmental impact at Labour HQ, saying the PL had to lead by example on the environment.
He made his comments after a commission which he had appointed presented its report on an environmental audit of Labour headquarters.
The commission was led by Prof Victor Axiak (picture).
Dr Muscat said the environmental audit at headquarters was a pilot project and such work would eventually be extended to labour clubs.
The Labour leader referred to the private member’s bill on climate change, due to be debated in Parliament tomorrow, and said this was no gimmick and the PL wanted a commitment from the government that it would legislate on the subject.
He said the environment was a pillar of labour policies and would be considered in all decisions which the party took.
Opposition environment spokesman Leo Brincat said the PL wanted the government, opposition, experts and NGOs to work together on climate change legislation and measures.
The audit report was largely favourable of the state of PL headquarters but recommended action for better temperature control and less use of paper, among other areas.

@ M Psaila
Aren't you fed up repeating this pathetic tune? Because you're really showing how much PN are afraid of Muscat! According to you, Joseph Muscat has never done anything good for the party since he's become party Leader. You only think of political advantage and what will make it easier for you to win again, that's why you said that Muscart has never came out with substance or valid proposals. Did you forget the 25 Budget proposals, the Climate Change Bill, the upcoming Opposition's proposals about the reform in the rent law, the LP suggestions about the Ghadira road...
and the Opposition letting down Austin Gatt utility rates as we're supposed to pay 35%. Your obsession in pushing your party forward is not even leaving you thinking properly because you surely aren't able to tell us what has Gonzi done good since he's been elected PM a few months ago!!!

@M. Psaila
Joseph can move heaven and earth and you will still continue to attack him because that's what you PN apologists seem to have been told to do. At least, that's how it seems to suggest.
Character assassination may have worked on Alfred Sant but this time, please try and find a better, more decent way to tackle things.
You write under every article that mentions PL and you practically always say the same things. it's becoming increasingly boring, my friend!

Plenty of room for everyone and his dog on the Green bandwagon. This cliché is getting a bit worn out now but still they flog it for all it's worth.

BY TIME IT'S BECOMING PRETTY EVIDENT THAT JOSEPH IS A SWEET TALKER BUT NO SUBSTANCE
IF HE WANTS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY HE SHOULD COME UP WITH SERIOUS, CONCRETE, VIABLE PROPOSALS....
oK GOOD THING THAT HE DID AN ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS OF THE KWARTIERI BUT WHEN IS THIS YOUNG MAN GOING TO REALIZE THAT HE IS NOW THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION NOT THE PRESIDENT OF A SMALL YOUTH ORGANIZATION?
IN POCHE PAROLE IT'S HIGH TIME FOR JOSEPH TO GET DOWN TO SUBSTANCE
HE SPENT NEARLY SIX MONTHS TALKING ABOUT A NEW WAY OF DOING POLITICS UNTIL ONE FINE DAY PRIME MINISTER GONZI DID A MASTERSTROKE AND APPOINTED GEORGE ABELA AS PRESIDENT .... JOSEPH SITT XHUR IPARLA, GONZI QATT MA QAL XEJN IMMA B'MOSSA WAHDA GAB LIL JOSEPH JITKELLEM WAHDU!!
CAN IT BE THAT JOSEPH BECAME LEADER OF THE MLP TOO EARLY? I'M AFRAID HE DID!
HE WOULD HAVE MADE A FINE DEPUTY LEADER WITH GEORGE ABELA AS LEADER....BUT NOW TROPPO TARDI!
AS THE MALTESE SAYING GOES: QATTUSA GHAGGELIJA.......!

Parties need to practice what they preach!
At the moment I'm praying that this piece of news will not attract the attention of certain contributors who turns fierce whenever PL is mentioned. This is another good move by Joseph Muscat, maybe Gonzi and all the others will follow for the sake of the environment.

Well done Dr. Muscat
This is it what we really want: Leading by example, I'm sure that the level of political maturity your'e showing gives a very +ve image of the PL. I really hope that in the near future you and your party would be in a position where this level of political maturity would be deployed on a national level.
Also, I would like to thank Profs. Axiak for his excellent contribution.
