Obituary
BENCINI. With sadness we announce the peaceful passing away of Major GEORGE ALEXANDER on January 11, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife Yvonne née Debono, his loving daughters Sandra and her husband Aldo Vella, Nella and Michael, his grandchildren Candace, Ilona, George, Jamie and his wife Kate and Jessica, his great grandchildren Jacob and his little angel Lara, his sisters Elsa, Liliana, Terry and her husband Maurice Lubrano, his sister-in-law Ermelinda Bezzina and his numerous nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. A special thank you to his much devoted carer Rhyan. The funeral Mass will take place today at 2 p.m. at the Carmelite parish church, Balluta, followed by interment in the Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
GRECH. On January 11, at Żejtun Home, JANE (GIOVANNA) GRECH, née Brockdorff, widow of Paul Grech, aged 82, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Maria Dolores, Margaret and her husband Saviour, Antonia and her husband Charles, Paul and his wife Christine, Joseph and his wife Rose, Spiridione and his wife Carmen, Lucienne and her husband Raymond, her brother, sisters and their respective spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Żejtun Home today at 1.45 p.m. for St Nicholas of Tolentine (Augustinian) church Tarxien where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Future of marriage
Harry Benson, founder of the Bristol Community Family Trust, together with Fr Paul Galea, lecturer in pastoral psychology at the university, will be addressing a national conference on the future of marriage.
The conference, organised by the Diocesan Family Commission, Cana Movement and Caritas, will take place on February 7 between 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. at the St Agatha Auditorium in Rabat.
Members of Parliament Edwin Vassallo and Justyne Caruana will also be participating and Archbishop Paul Cremona will be closing off the conference.
Archaeology lecturers
The Archaeological Society of Malta will be holding two lectures by Prof. Anthony Harding, from the University of Exeter. The first lecture, War in the Bronze Age, will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 6 p.m. at the Palazzo de la Salle, 219, Republic Street, Valletta. The second lecture, Bronze Age Salt: Recovering A Lost Commodity, will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 10 a.m. at the Archaeology Centre on the University campus, Msida.

First aid course
The Red Cross will be holding a 14-hour-long basic first aid course, consisting of both theory and practical sessions. This will take place at Boffa Hospital, Floriana, on January 27 and 29 and on February 3 and 5 between 5 and 8.30 p.m.
Participation costs €33 and those interested are asked to send an e-mail to mrc1courses@gmail.com. A certificate valid for three years will be issued upon completion.
