With our ever-increasing dependency and conspicuous consumption on mobile phones I was pondering on what would happen if we treated our Bibles/prayer books in the same way as we revered our mobile phones? What if we wore our Bibles on a belt or carried it in our handbags, or in our pockets, or around our necks? What if we constantly flipped through it throughout the day or checked it for messages? What if we used it to receive messages from the text? What if we treated it as if we couldn't possibly live without it and suffered withdrawal symptoms when we forgot it?
Unlike a mobile phone you would never have to worry about the Bible losing its connection, or having its battery recharged or having sufficient money to top-up the account. I hope this message causes you to reflect on life's ponderables and what is actually important and may possibly prompt you to open your Bible today - with one word of caution...don't do it while driving!
