BEZZINA. On January 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Maria née Cassar and Patrick, God's precious gift of a daughter - LAURA MARIA, a most welcome sister to Francesca Pia. Deo Gratias et Mariae. Special thanks to the consultant and midwife Dorianne Mangion for their special care and dedication.
BORDA. On December 31, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, to Vanessa née Lawrence and David, God's precious gift of a daughter - ELLA MARIE, a most welcome sister to Timothy and Justine. Thanks to the gynaegologist and to all the maternity staff at the hospital.
DARMANIN. On December 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Crysta née Dowling and Ian, God's most precious gift of a daughter - EMMANUELLE, a most welcome sister to Gavin. Special thanks to midwife Charlene Borg.
EL-GADI. On January 3, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, to Alya and Hatem, God's precious gift of a daughter - MLEK. Thanks to midwife Carmen Scerri and to all the maternity staff at the hospital.
RUZICIC. On December 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Christine née Schembri and Radovan, God's precious gift of a daughter - MAJA ANN. Special thanks to all the staff at OBS2, OBS3 and NPICU.
SAID. On December 18, at St Philip's Hospital, to Yvette née Azzopardi and Brian, God's precious gift of a second-born daughter - ZOE. Thanks to the obstetrician, doctors, midwives and nurses at the hospital.

Sunday, January 11, 1959, feast of the Holy Family, St Aloysius' College chapel. The late Canon Lewis Ellul Bezzina, Helen's brother, officiated. "What shall we render unto the Lord for all His benefits towards us; With thanks we shall call upon the name of the Lord". (Ps.116:12). Love from Patrick, Marthese, Bernard and Gabriel.
Obituary
ATTARD. On January 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH ATTARD, MD (ex-Superintendent, St Vincent de Paule residence), widower of Teresina, née Abela, aged 83, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Anna and her husband Joseph, John, residing in Germany, Edwin and Isabella, his brothers, sisters and their respective spouses, Victor and Louise, Frankie and Jessie, Evelyn, Oscar and Mary, Mgr Edgar Attard, Albert and Artemia, Mary and Victor, his grandchildren Mark and Sarah, in-laws, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
CALLEJA. On December 29, at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, UK, ARTHUR, formerly of Senglea, aged 85. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his beloved wife Kitty, née Cachia, his son James and his wife Margaret, his daughter Marie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother John, his sisters Maria Carbone and Victoria Busuttil, in-laws, relatives and friends. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
CASALETTO. On December 12, CHRISTINE, passed peacefully away in Romford, UK. Tomorrow's 6.30 p.m. Mass at St Joseph the Worker parish church, Birkirkara, will be offered for the repose of her soul. Relatives and friends are welcome to join.
ETHERINGTON-SMITH. On January 4, at her home in Marsascala, JOAN AUDREY, widow of Martin, aged 94, passed peacefully away. Born in the UK, she was resident in Malta in the 1950s at Ta' Qali and in Marsascala from 1968 until her demise. She was an active member of the British Residents' Association and a benefactor of the SPCA. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss Charlo Baldacchino, her step-son Nick, her two brothers Tony and David Orange and his wife, her nieces and other relatives in the UK, friends in Malta and in the UK. Her remains were donated to the Anatomy Department of the University of Malta, according to her express wishes.
FRANCICA. On January 9, DOMENIKA, aged 84, of Hamrun, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Vince and his wife Irene, Jackie and his wife Nathalie, Philip and his wife Rose, Mary Rose and her husband Eugenio, Alfred and Joe, and Esther, widow of her son Charles, Miriam, widow of her son Twanny, Censina, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 10 a.m. for St Francis church, Hamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Sisters at Fra Diegu Home will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
GAUCI MAISTRE. On January 10, MARIA STELLA, née Casapinta, widow of Guido, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Mark, Moira and her husband Chris and an adorable grandchild Karl, her sisters Beatrice, widow of Joe Attard, Lydia and her husband Lino Vassallo La Rosa, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for the Carmelite parish church, Fleur-de-Lys, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. God grant her eternal rest.

She leaves to mourn her loss her children Leli, Doris and her husband Lino, Mary, Sally and her husband Charles, George and his wife Pat, Ann and her husband Roger, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral took place last Friday.
Requiem Masses
The 5.45 p.m. Mass said tomorrow at the Ursuline chapel, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of the soul of ALICE NAVARRO. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.
