Top UK 'marriage champion' for Malta conference
Harry Benson, a leading UK champion of marriage and relationship education, will be one of the main speakers at a national conference on the future direction of marriage in Malta.
The conference will be held in the auditorium of St Agatha's School, Rabat, on February 7 from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Mr Benson's charity, Bristol Community Family Trust (www.bcft.co.uk), runs relationship and parenting courses for 1,000 people every year.
He has given over 300 relationship courses and written a book entitled Mentoring Marriages.
He and his wife Kate were on the brink of divorce 14 years ago. However, their marriage is now thriving after 22 years together. They have six children.
The other main speaker at the conference is Fr Paul Galea, a lecturer in Pastoral Psychology at the University of Malta's Faculty of Theology.
Archbishop Paul Cremona, Nationalist MP Edwin Vassallo and Labour MP Justyne Caruana will also address the conference.
Entitled 'Zwieg - Quo Vadis?', the conference is an initiative of Progett Impenn, a task force set up by the Diocesan Family Commission, the Cana Movement and Caritas to promote strong marriages.

@Marco Ellul!
Long live free Malta!
Yes, we are all entitled to our opinion.
The problem is that a few people insist that anything that comes from the Church is automatically bad because it is Catholic!
That is very childish perspective!
If you actually read what I said, you would see that was the point I was trying to make.
But you chose not to!
If a catholic saved your life, would you have him put away or even stop him from saving you?
I think not!
Look at the content of the article.
See that what is happening here is a church-led effort to help people who wish to stay married to do so - in free Malta!
So I suggest you just celebrate the fact that there is somebody willing to help other people.
No doubt other religions do the same. Good on them!
And do please note the correct spelling of my name which you obviously like as you put it in capital letters!
I think we all have a contribution to make to these threads, but I do so wish that people used them in a grown up and constructive manner rather than breaking into tantrums!

And will GERRY COWLE please learn that in Malta we don't need any extra holier-than-thous, born-agains, bible-huggers, and the rest of them, more than we naturally already have?
Where are the anti-Catholics? Where are the so-called 'secularists'? Is it bad to have secularist people around? Or should everyone simply join the Catholic train by force? Is that what you are after?
Well, this is my country, for starters. And I certainly don't want my country to end up some other countries did, where you simply cannot express yourself regarding religion, etc ...
Catholicism is not the only religion and our country is free.

Is this conference open to the general public, please? If so can you please provide an e-mail or telephone number where one can apply to attend?

Will all anti Catholic and secularist persons please note that although the Catholic Church has organised this venture, its aim is to help people who are married to stay married and work on their commitment to their marriage. The involvement of the Church does not make it something to attack for the sake of it!
Please try to forget that the Church is supporting it and realise that it is a good initiative simply because of what it sets out to do.
Here's hoping that the conference will help anybody at all who is interested in supporting those who wish to marry and who wish to remain married where at all possible.
