Man charged with rape, attempting to bribe police
Another jailed for groping a woman
A 27-year-old Libyan man was yesterday charged with raping a woman and holding her against her will.
The incident allegedly took place at Wied iz-Zurrieq last Friday night. The man was also charged with attempting to bribe two police officers by offering them cash to evade prosecution.
Furthermore, the Libyan was charged with attacking and violently resisting the police and escaping from custody. The man was remanded in custody.
Another man was yesterday jailed for three months after pleading guilty to groping a woman he did not know as she was walking in Valletta on Friday morning.
Christopher Ellul, 40, appeared before Magistrate Edwina Grima, charged with groping the woman's backside as she was walking in Valletta.
Mr Ellul, who was also charged with relapsing, admitted to the charges and was jailed for three months. Police Inspector Alfred Mallia prosecuted.

How quaint.... and we get to pay for Mr.Ellul's meals and welfare while he serves his 3months.
Why isn't he given community work at least? Paint the victim's house at his expense? Wash her car ? Her whole street's cars ? Clean the streets she walks on?
