Seminar on throwing events

Athletics Malta will be holding a seminar on throwing events between January 16 and 17. The two-day activity will be conducted by English coach Paul Wilson and his compatriot Jenny Scott, a discus thrower who has represented England and Great Britain at youth level.

The theoretical part of the seminar will be held at the Athletics Malta premises in Marsa while the practical session will be staged at the Marsa Sports Ground.

Wilson is a throws coach at the City of York Athletic Club and a throws coordinator at the Leeds Met University. He mentors athletes of all ages and standards, mainly in shot putt, discus, javelin and also multi-events.

Wilson, 36, has been involved in athletics since he was 13. He is a former County Championships discus thrower.

Scott is 20 years old and has a personal best of 50m in discus. In 2007, she competed for Great Britain at the European U-20 Championships in Hengelo. Her aim is to qualify to represent England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, to be held in India.
