Man gave bribe to pass driving test

A 19-year-old man who tried to take his practical driving test without passing the written theory test was conditionally discharged for three years.

Lift installer Wayne Muscat had bribed a third person to pass the theory test without sitting for it between April and May two years ago.

Standing sheepishly in the dock Mr Muscat admitted to the charges and informed the court that he had since retaken the test and passed.

The court conditionally discharged him for three years, taking into consideration the fact that Mr Muscat admitted to the charges immediately and cooperated with the police in their investigations, as well as having a clean police record.

Police Inspector Angelo Gafà prosecuted.

Lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Muscat.
