Head-on collision

Seeing yet another accident I just cannot help myself to comment. Being on the roads of Malta for a lengthy time every day I come across all kind of accidents and many near misses all the time. People driving simply either ignore the rules or are not aware of them at all. Some think that because they got a big car they can go over ‘STOP’ signs and ignore ‘GIVE WAY’ signs. I believe that many do not even know that there is a lever switch just under the steering wheel referred to as ‘INDICATOR’!

I do not wish to comment on this particular accident, but it is time that people causing accidents should start to be fined for the hassle they cause to others. A simple bumper to bumper accident costs the country thousands of euro in wasted fuel due to traffic jams, the extra pollution from exhaust and the possibility of creating other accidents from those who have been stuck in the long queues and then are late for work or other appointments they might have and then rush to make it in time. Make it simple – IF YOU CANNOT DRIVE HAND IN YOUR DRIVING LICENSE!

This is obviously could have been another fatal accident. Are the drivers in Malta aware that two continuous white lines down the middle of the road mean no overtaking under no circumstances. It is time the police started prosecuting for dangerous driving. Why are drivers oblivious to highway code rules.

Far to many head on collisions are happening. does anyone ask why? Most of the time I suspect that someone was overtaking when they shouldn't.
Correct me if I am wrong, but nothing is reported that the police have charged anyone with breaking traffic regulations or dangerous driving. One may ask why not.
Too many drivers must, at all cost , overtake the car in front even if there is a blind bend, double white lines etc.
