Enemalta fault causes brief TV news blackout
A half-hour power cut that affected several parts of the island on Wednesday evening was caused by a fault at Enemalta's Mosta distribution centre, the corporation said.
Apart from creating a brief inconvenience, the outage coincided with the evening news on TVM and One TV.
A slight glitch in TVM's Għargħur transmission system, caused by the power cut, was sorted out by the station within a very short time, a station spokesman said.
In order to ensure that the public, whose television was not out due to the cut, did not miss any of the news, items were repeated later during the news bulletin.
One News, aired on One TV, also suffered a break in transmission as the power cut hit the stations' transmitters, also in Għargħur. This caused a delay in the programmes of over half an hour.
The power cut affected Attard, Buġibba, Dingli, Lija, Mosta, Naxxar, Qawra, Ta' Qali and St Paul's Bay, Enemalta said.

There is no doubt that Enemalta are sure in a mess, disorganised, and ill-disciplined to the detriment of the taxpayer. During the week, the Xmas lights along the new Zebbug Road leading to Rabat have been left alight day and night, including the decorations in the roundabout at the crossroads to Rabat, Mtarfa and St. Paul's Bay. And we pay for all this...shame!
