PN sets up Gozo political school

The Gozo regional committee of the Nationalist Party has set up a political school to encourage active participation in politics, particularly by the young.

The school, named after Gozitan PN founder Fortunato Mizzi, will be inaugurated on January 31 by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

Lectures will be held on the last Saturday of every month.

The inaugural lecture, on January 31, will be given by President Emeritus Guido de Marco on the role of a political leader. It will be held at the University Gozo Centre.

Application forms and the prospectus on the new school can be collected from the board secretary, Neville Galea, email: neville.galea@gmail.com, Mobile No: 79275699. Requests by mail can be made on SPFM PN Office, 120 Republic Street, Victoria, Gozo, or online at: www.pn.org.mt.

The closing date is January 21. Candidates will be asked to attend an interview.

I am sure that every one agrees that politics in Malta is very divisive. After all the country is polarised with only a percentage point separating the two major parties at the last general election. It seems to me that the country needs fewer political clubs and rallies and debates. So isn't a PN political School in Gozo sort of waving a red flag infront of a wounded bull? Why not lay low and try to get along with your neighbor instead of another case that guarantees more divisiveness? Aren't election campaigns heated enough that Gozo needs politics on the front burner all year round? After all how much more political knowledge does Joe Public need to learn?

Another topic will be delivered by Joe Saliba. It will be called "How to topple a democratilly elected government.

Will someone please explain how come this PN Political School will meet at the Gozo University Centre?? Is this venue - a centre of the University of Malta in Gozo funded by all taxpayers, not by PN party members, for the improvement of education in Gozo, and surely not for political activities - appropriate??

Future tools to divide further a divided nation. A curse on all your houses.

Where are all the blue eyed zombies who clamoured against Muscat's proposal to allow local council voting rights to 16 year olds?

Against that and happy with this?

Have you ever attended? I am sure you never did.

These comments make me laugh, whether they are for or against.

Ok..Pn will open a political school in Gozo...so what? Big deal! Everyone has the right to do whatever he wants to, according to whether this is permitted by law.

Nies...get a life!

Political School? Are you kidding me? The late Coronato Attard had no formal education..He won three elections and his daughter is now the Minister for Gozo.. Being on the right side of the Church and the clergy is worth all the diplomas and political savvy that these courses could ever impart.

@Michael Fenech

What is wrong in having experienced politicians like Profs de Marco and others share their knowledge and experience with young people who are interested?

@F. Cassar and Fleur Hili

While being in favour of this school I bet you were against the suggestion of Joseph Muscat for youths being able to vote at the age of 16 since this was coming from the PL camp right??

A PN POLITICAL SCHOOL.......ONLY IN MALTA AND GOZO.

GOD HELP US ALL.

Kieku l-Brigata kellha lecturers ta' stoffa bhal Guido de Marco.....!

Chris Borg (on 8/1/09)
So Labour did the right thing and dismantled the ailing Brigata, and now PN is forming its own Brigata-in-disguise.

Your arguments remind me of the song by the Dizmas:

''If you have nothing to say
Then say nothing at all"!

It is a great idea, at least the younger generation can have some guidance how to pursue a political career.

What are you so afraid of.................. it cannot be worst than having to become a Super one journalist to start a political career!

@Nigel Lawrence
It is a pity there was only the Brigata to Brainwash the young ones in my time !
Mark Grima (on 8/1/09)
This is a pretty disturbing development which exposes the totalitarian ambitions of the PN.
charles micallef (on 8/1/09)
One of the topics in question is how to send an e mail from one computer to another .

Lecturer - Paul Borg Olivier

That's the way, start brainwashing them BEFORE they have the ability to make their own decisions.
