Jazz and tango at Music Weekend

Jazz and tango musicians plan to liven up the Manoel Theatre with a Music Weekend later this month following an agreement signed with Go plc yesterday.

Two separate evening performances will be held on January 31 and February 1, featuring tango by Cristina Vilallonga and jazz by Sandro Zerafa.

During the signing of the agreement, Go chief executive David Kay expressed the hope that the event could become a regular one, held annually and featuring performances of various musical genres.

Theatre chairman Peter Fenech said that in Malta the market for culture was somewhat small, adding that the theatre needed the financial backing and commitment of corporate companies, such as Go, to provide a quality product.

The music weekend, he added, could help in enticing younger generations to the theatre.

Mr Zerafa, will be performing jazz music on the first day while Ms Vilallonga is billed to perform tango music on the second day.

Performances start at 8 p.m.

Tickets are priced at €25, €20, €15 and €10 and bookings can be made at the booking office (tel. 2124 6389) or via e-mail at bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt.

Inquiries can be made at info@teatrumanoel.com.mt.
