Couple accused of fraudulently offering freeport jobs
A man and a woman have been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to misappropriating €50,000 from at least six victims.
Carmela Zammit, 44 of Salina, and Norbert Farrugia, 38 of Siggiewi, allegedly told people that they were friends of the prime minister and claimed they could get them employment at the freeport. They then requested payments from their victims for medical insurance and specialised training.
Ms Zammit was also accused of breaching a conditional discharge imposed in 2006 and commiting a crime during the operative term of a suspended sentence.

Can the PN condemn these alleged acts ? As far as I know one of the accused is an official of the PN in Siggiewi .
Two ways two measures

Should the Siggiewi local council be audited? I think yes. Deputy Mayor indeed! Farrugia's attitude throws a dark shadow on good people who serve. Innocent until proven guilty one would say; but one hopes that justice is done.

Is this the same Norbert Farrugia that is Deputy Mayor of Mqabba elected on a PN ticket? did he resign? Did the General Secretary of the Nationalist Party condemn his actions or is he trying hard to bury the bad news?

Did they expect to get away with it? This is an island and you cannot run away by living in another small town.
