@j borg. If that is all you can say about Dr.Louis Galea than i am sure that qualifies for the Presidency with flying colours. Whether you like it or not the office of the Presidency is a political one everywhere and Malta is not an exception.

This time the President is to be chosen as used to be chosen the previous Presidents.
Then after the new President, the person chosen must be a person chosen by the Leader of the Opposition after consultation with the Leader of the party in government, being Labour or Nationalist.
Thus the necessary discussions about this change need to be started just after the new President is appointed.

Certainly nothing personal or disrespect against the lady as a person per se, but suggesting Nobility?
Do you still think we are in the dark/middle ages?
And what have ancestors to do with a present person?
In that case, how about Marlene Mizzi? But I guess she will not be acceptable to Gonzipn et al.

Yeah sure....why not also propose for Pope!
We'll have Auxiliary workers hailing from particular electoral districts as "Swiss" Guards
and part-time farmers from Fawwara tending to the papal gardens....
We should not let politicians use the presidency as their pompous retirement home!
The president must not be percieved as making an effort to prove his/her independence from personal political leanings.
Giovanni Bonello fits in perfectly...nonetheless what's important is that politicians are excluded from San Anton.

Mike why not the Speaker of the House Dr. Louis Galea. He has devoted all his life to serve the people and has been a success in every position he occupied. I am sure that he will hold high the office of the President like his predecessors.

Can I make a BOLD choice for a women President. Someone with class and nobility. A women who has brains and would do a great job as President. Lastly, her ancestors have been in the Maltese political arena for centuries so it would be a prefect choice as her Most noble has breeding for the position..
The Most Noble, Agnese Gera de Petri Testaferrata Ghaxaq, Marchioness of San Vincenzo Ferreri and Baroness of Qlejjgha.
Those that have met her would agree..

Mrs Farrugia widow of late Farrugia of Farsons could be a nominee.

Yes it would be good to have a Female President, but let us not forget, that we already had a Female President, Ms. Agatha Barbara. And no one can unite the Country, not the President anyway, especially if he comes from ANY Political Party. The Country will only be united if one of the Parties would say 'YES' to whatever the other Party proposes, and that will also cause friction.

Looks like you all are barking at the wrong tree. Looks like the present Present Dr. Edward Fenech Adami is putting his finger in the pie too. According to sources mentioned in a local weekly newspaper Dr. Joe Borg is being pushed by the President for the presidency. Well, you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours.

Just for the sake of having a woman? Your attitude is patronising and condescing towards women.
Let it be a person who can unite the nation. Male or female does not matter.

Come on then, let's have your suggestion for a female Head of State. It would be a good start at least.
