The environmental organisation Bicref won an Accolade Award of Merit for its documentary Waves of Life, which promotes Maltese and central Mediterranean biodiversity conservation.
The accolade recognises film, television and videography professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.
Entries were judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry.
Documentary director Adriana Vella said: "It was a pleasant surprise for the Bicref team to receive such an honourable, international recognition since we all humbly and voluntarily worked on this production for local to regional environmental awareness as our main focus".
To receive such an award amid thousands of submissions is an added satisfaction, she said.
Entering its sixth year, The Accolade Film Awards are described on its website as an international, non-traditional and virtual venue - a showcase for cinematic gems and unique voices.
It receives entries from all over the world, including Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
