Active population climbs to 59.6%
The active percentage of the population aged between 15 and 64 grew by one percent to reach 59.6 in the third quarter of last year, according to the results f the latest Labour Force Survey.
The survey showed an increase in the percentage of women in employment , to 31.4 percent compared to 29.3 percent in the July-September quarter in 2007.
Unemployment during the period reached 10,113 (5.8%) from 10,470 (6.2%) in the third quarter of 2007.
Manufacturing and retail sectors remained the biggest employers, at 15.2% each, followed by public administration (8.6%), education, hotels and restaurants.
The survey covered people aged 15 to 64.
