AD calls for immediate ceasefire in the Middle East

Alternattiva Demokratika is calling for an immediate truce and cease fire in the Middle East.

Chairman Arnold Cassola said: "The necessity of an immediate truce in the area is vital. We disagree with Israel Foreign Minister Tizpi Livni who has declared that there is no humanitarian emergency in the area.”

Prof. Cassola said that the humanitarian emergency could be seen daily on television screens.

“Nobody can deny the daily suffering and death of Israeli victims of the senseless Hamas provocation and the suffering and death of the hundreds of Palestinians, victims of the ruthless and what is clearly a totally disproportionate reaction of the Israeli government, which the peace loving international community cannot accept.

"Stop killing now, in the name of reason and common sense," Prof. Cassola appealed.

It don't like the soft political stance, so not to take political stand. The situation palestinian people lived this 60 years under Israel rule, does not lead to the same comparison between palestinian and Israel.

Israel had nuclear, military, financial and super power backing. How come someone can talk as they are on the same level.

This is what I call AD's real cheap way of trying to get some publicity by taking a ride on a tragic situation as the long standing war in the Middle east. AD people read between the lines, no wonder you never increased your voting base.

@ Malcolm Seychell. 20% of Israelis are Muslim. Israel is not exclusive to Jews. Israel is *not* a racist state.

@ Prof Cassola. A truce has to be reached by BOTH parties. The truce which had been established thanks to Egyptian mediation was broken by Hamas. Israel's main aim in this intervention is that of re-establishing that truce. So it's better to direct your comments towards Hamas, Prof Cassola.

Arnold you are the person capable of stopping the fighting where all others have failed. Go on, proceed to Israel and make them join hands.

Halluna AD.

Izrael is just defending its people.

Hamas declared war on Izrael even before it was elected.

I hope one day our leaders in Europe will defend our interests as much as the jews do to their people.

Nations quake and leaders tremble............AD has spoken! Look out, folks - mind you don't get trampled in the stampede to the negotiating table!

U halluna! A bad case of egomania, wouldn't you say??

@ Dr David Pollina
I am also sure that Israel will thank Prof Cassola for his efforts by crushing him with a bulldozer like happened to Rachel Corrie or shot in the head like Tom Hurndall. Prof Cassola could also try to take some humanitarian aid by boat and get rammed by the Israeli navy.

AD could also call for the transfer of all Gaza residents to be transferred to Malta as refugees, I am sure that they all qualify for refugee status much more than most of the illegal immigrants we get by boat.

Why do people who have delusions of grandeur never realise it?
Dr. David Pollina (on 6/1/09)
I'm sure Hamas terrorists will listen to Professor Cassola. In fact, if he were to make a personal trip there, they might even thank him for his concern by removing his head.
