Spain's Carlos Sainz and co-driver Michel Perin compete in their Volkswagen after the start of the South American edition of the Dakar Rally in Saladillo, 180 km south west of Buenos Aires yesterday. The Dakar Rally returns after a one-year absence with the 15-day off-road race staged in South America for the first time due to fears of a militant attack in Africa. The rally will run a total of 14 stages across Argentina and Chile.
