Two armed and hooded men broke a window to enter a hotel in il-Qaliet Street, Marsascala this morning and fired a shot at the cash register stealing not more than €3,000.

The police said they were informed of the robbery at 4.45 a.m. The men, one of them armed and both of them hooded, unsuccessfully demanded keys to the register from an employee.

After stealing the money, the thieves fled in a vehicle.

An inquiry is being held.
