Rise in producer prices

Industrial producer prices rose by 4.7 per cent in October when compared with the previous month, according to the National Statistics Office.

The NSO yesterday said prices in the domestic market remained unchanged in the capital goods sectors. The largest increase (12.25 per cent) was registered in the energy sector.

It added that the sectors of consumer durables and non-durables increased slightly by 0.57 per cent and 0.13 per cent respectively, while the intermediate goods sector decreased by 0.13 per cent. Comparing October with the same period last year, producer prices registered increases in the domestic market for all the main industrial groupings.

On the other hand, the NSO said, decreases were registered in all the main industrial groupings in the eurozone export market except for consumer non-durables.

In the non-eurozone export market, decreases were registered in all the sectors except for the consumer durables sector, which remained stable.
