This route was served by Ryanair, which for some reason discontinued it as from November last. An alternative low-cost flight would be welcome.
The point is that many tourists and students of English from all over Spain found this route very convenient, and at the same time many Maltese holiday-makers found the city a very agreeable place to visit. The present and only route to Girona in Catalunya is good but may not be ideal since this place is right at the north-east of the country, and not exactly the ideal gateway to the whole of Spain.
I strongly suggest to the authorities to make alternative or additional arrangements to Spain, to keep the connection going, preferably even improving it. Other touch-down airports may be considered.
This, on the basis that this destination is relatively young and affords a huge potential for developing into a major one. Local tourist operators could turn it into a preferred destination. On the other hand we could see a great increase of visitors from that country if care is taken to make it as easy as possible for them to visit.
