Sporting briefs

Senna: Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna has dismissed reports that he is eager to join Manchester City in the January transfer window. "I know nothing about everything that is being said and I have not spoken to anyone at Manchester City," Senna said. "I have read the same things as everyone else and I do not know where it has come from. I only want to think about Villarreal and helping the team to do well."

Di Michele: West Ham striker David Di Michele is not thinking about returning to Torino during this month's transfer window. The Italian is currently on loan at Upton Park until the end of the season. "I have heard news regarding my return to Turin, but I am only thinking about doing well for West Ham," he said. "Here in England I settled well and although I haven't been playing much recently I want to prove myself."

Milito: Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has again made it clear that striker Diego Milito is not for sale, at least not for the time being. The Argentine has been a revelation during his second spell with the Rossoblu, scoring 12 goals to lead the Serie A scorers' charts. "Milito is not for sale," Gasperini told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "It is not even possible to imagine a situation in which we could sell him, at least not in January."

Larsson: Marseille coach Eric Gerets admits that Henrik Larsson "fits the profile" of players they are looking to bring in during the January transfer window. Larsson is a free agent after his contract at Helsingborg expired last month. "I have a priority for one player for one post. But it's not simple, because other clubs are equally interested," Gerets said. "Larsson fits the profile we are looking for."

Golf: John Daly is welcome to compete again on the Australian circuit despite revealing that he had been suspended for six months from the US PGA Tour. American Daly, who has had well-publicised problems with drinking, said that he had been banned from the Tour for "conduct that brought unwelcome publicity".

Basket, NBA: The Orlando Magic looked a different team from the one that stumbled to defeat in their last game, scoring a 113-94 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Rashard Lewis led seven Magic scorers in double figures with 21 points as the Southeast Division leaders quickly erased the memories of Monday's 88-82 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
