More than €500,000 were collected in a 15-hour charity marathon yesterday, organised by RTK radio, with the collaboration of APS Bank.
This marathon was held during an open day at the home and included an auction of sports memorabilia, including signed football t-shirts and a replica of the Champions League cup.
The home was opened in 1965 by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi to improve the quality of life of people with physical and mental impairments.
It runs at €12,000 a day and is fully dependent on donations from the public to offer its services. It currently, it cares for 100 residents and has 220 workers.
