A forensic investigation has established that a number of bones washed up on the rocks at Għajn Tuffieħa yesterday are of a woman.

The bones, which were in an advanced state of decomposition, were scattered over a wide area near the Golden Sands Hotel. They were found by two children who were playing in the area. The children immediately informed their father, who called the police.

Police officers went on site and lifted a number of large bones from the spot.

Police sources said that the bones were washed ashore together with a bunch of debris after the recent bad weather and rough seas.
