All this fear is something that I cannot understand. Having gone to this centre quite often, either to attend cultural events organised by NGOs or just to meet some friends, I never experienced any situation that was even slightly dangerous. On the contrary, many of the residents welcome you, invite you to eat with them or offer you coffee. Of course you find different persons with different attitudes, but this is only normal.

The irony of all this is that I would never have dreamt of going to that area had it not been for the existence of the open centre, having been one of the places known for prostitution.

Therefore, when I hear people saying that Marsa is becoming a dangerous place, I become more convinced that the thing we must fear most is fear itself.
