It seems it has become quite common to hear persons say that Marsa has become a "no-go area" because of the presence of the open centre for refugees.
Lately, I also read on The Times that this line of thought was made in court by a police superintendent.
I must say that some persons have a really short memory.
The place where the open centre for refugees is situated has been one of the most notorious "no-go areas" for many years, known for drugs and prostitution, long before there was a single migrant living there.
I am sure no Maltese ever went for a walk or held a nice picnic with their family in that particular area of Marsa. So it is surely not the migrants' fault if the government decided to locate the open centre in one of Malta's most depressed areas.
