The management of the shipyards has committed itself to inform the General Workers’ Union whenever workers' jobs are to be terminated, the union said.

In a statement, the union said that during a conciliation meeting, the shipyards had accepted to act in line with the agreement reached between the union and the finance ministry whenever jobs were to be terminated.

The two sides also agreed to revise the list of workers who had their job terminated.

The union registered a dispute with the shipyards in the past days when a number of workers who had accepted early retirement schemes had their contracts terminated.

The workers had been retained to conclude contract the yard had in hand.
