I refer to the letter titled 'Mess in Lija' (The Sunday Times, December 21).

I think this article angered many Lija residents, since it is far from reality.

I think Lija is one of the cleanest localities and our local council is always ready to give prompt service and an efficient one too.

Our mayor Ian Castaldi Paris is always available at the council, willing to offer his best service. One must praise the Lija council for its great achievements, especially where the Malta Environment and Planning Authority is concerned.

In the last few months the Lija council has been an example to all other councils in Malta for its sheer determination and hard work. The council has carried out several projects, such as the work on the new swings, the new square in Transfiguration Avenue as well as several other projects that indeed make us feel proud of our council.

So, well done Lija council and mayor for your hard work. Keep it up.
