CIAPPARA. On December 26, JOSEPH of Naxxar, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Angelo, his sister-in-law Mary, widow of Victor, residing in San Francisco, his nieces and nephews, Mary Anne, Joyce, Paul, Sonia, and Angela, his American nieces and nephews, Mary Ann, Louisa, Jojo, Angelique, Michael, Vincent and Veronica and their spouses, his great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for Our Lady of the Nativity parish church, Naxxar, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, would be appreciated. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Lucienne and Clive, Godwin and Nadine, Alfred and Cynthia, her grandchildren Malcolm, Nicholas, Adriana and Fiorella, their husbands, wives, fiancés, great grandchildren, brother and sisters, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital at 1.30 p.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Charity marathon

The Missionary Animation Centre (CAM) has collected €54,576 during a marathon it held recently. Of these, €11,000 have been given to St Joseph Home in Sta Venera, €12,000 to the Missionary Society of St Paul's missionaries in the Philippines, €25,000 to the MSSP's missionaries in Peru, €5,000 to the MSSP's missionaries in Pakistan and €12,000 were retained for local evangelisation projects. CAM has also sent a container of everyday goods to the MSSP's missionaries in Peru and intends to send another soon.

Choral concert

The Gaulitanus Choir will be closing the festive season with a concert at the Exhibition Hall, Victoria at January 3 at 7.15 p.m.
