On December 14, I had the pleasure and honour of accepting an invitation to attend the Gozo International Celebration at Qala parish church, an event that is unique and also a tribute to Fr Joseph Zammit and his team of organisers.
Not only is this occasion a bridging of all people's beliefs, nationalities, faiths, differences and one person's desire, dedication and true Christianity. It is an astounding fact that such a small parish on such a small island can collect so many different persons under one church roof for one reason.
I hope to be proved wrong that this kind of occasion happens elsewhere but I have not heard of such event. Gozo International Celebration was first held three years ago in order to fulfil, as mentioned above, the bringing together of people of many different faiths and nationalities to celebrate certain events.
Held three times a year, Easter, Christmas and on the parish feast dedicated to St Joseph, may we hope that this continues to grow.
I, as a person who has for a long time, in a manner of ways, been "lost", have found such an event as the GIC to have opened my eyes again to the basic need or desire of belief.
Thank you Fr Joe and GIC
