Caring for feral cats

Magistrate Anthony Ellul is to be congratulated for his wisdom in only fining Bert Childers the sum of €100.

That this wonderful man who cares so much for the plight of the feral cats of Gozo should end up in court for neutering and treating them is beyond belief. All of us who know Bert, and we are many on this island, know of his generosity of heart.

This man, who has recently been honoured by his peers for a lifetime of service to animals, has repeatedly requested a permit to be allowed to work here, unpaid, when he and his wife Kathi visit the island they love. For some strange reason his requests have been denied. Why is this, I wonder!
