Kobe Bryant scored 36 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 105-96 win over the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday in a game that marked the first NBA meeting between brothers Pau and Marc Gasol.

The Spanish pair had played against each other in friendlies and in training for the Spanish national team, but yesterday's game was the first time they'd faced each other competitively.

"Somebody had to lose, right?" the Lakers' Pau Gasol said. "I'm happy we came out victorious because we needed this win extremely bad to continue to pursue our goals.

"But I'm sorry that on the losing end were the Grizzlies and my brother."

Pau had 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Lakers in his return to Memphis, his former team before joining Los Angeles in February. Marc, in his first NBA season, had eight points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who led 93-88 with 3:08 to play.
