Foreigner confesses to crime
A man has admitted to using a passport which was not his when trying to leave the country on Sunday.
Ahmed Mohamed Shih Ahmed, 29, told the police he was the man shown on the passport. He only admitted to the crime to his interpreter minutes before being arraigned and Police Inspector Mario Haber had to change the charge sheet and arraign him under his real name.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera took into consideration the fact that he had admitted to the charges in an early stage of the proceedings and that he had a clean police record. She handed down a six-month jail term suspended for three years.
Legal aid lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores appeared for Mr Ahmed.

Due to the lack of security and a haven for international criminals in Malta the U.S and Scotland lost a lot of lives 20 years ago. Does the Maltese government want to re-live this?

So does Mr. Ahmed have a passport of his own or is he an illegal immigrant? If he has a passport of his own why was he attempting to leave the country under someone else’s name? If he has valid papers of his own why take that chance unless it was for criminal or terrorist reasons. Is this in fact being investigated?
He admitted to the charges at an early stage. Of course he did, he was caught red handed wasn't he! He gets six months jail suspended for three years, which must have scared him, no end!
