Dentists take industrial action
Dentists employed by the state are not making dentures, fillings and administrative work because of a dispute with the Health Division.
The Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin ordered the action because, it said, the division was not honouring an agreement reached more than three years ago and was ignoring requests for talks to discuss a new agreement.
The UĦM said children with special needs will not be affected by the action, which will be intensified unless the division honoured the agreement.

Thanks for reply chaps i guess everyone is entitled to his or her opinion no harm in that and welcomed, however please note that most of us oldies (old fobbies) come here mostly for the sun and also for the friendly nice Maltese and Gozitans however as far as getting FREE treatment you are absolutly rong, we are all covered by an insurance in Britain and no doubt the first thing they have always asked us before any hospice tratment in Malta is for the British entitlement card so we are not taken anything for niks our National Health Insurance in Britain cover us for any treatment received in your country. I guess we all live and learn so now you know. Thanks again and have a Merry Xmas All. NB: Yes its true we all love Malta and Gozo otherwise we wouldn't spend time in your beautiful islands. More comment s welcomed otherwise we just call it a day.

Notwithstanding your complaints about all this uncertainness on the island you still chose to come and live hear. Guess its better here than in your own country, otherwise you wouldn't have come to live here.

The actions are only being taken at the Mater Dei Hospital and health centers. Now if you can afford to go abroad to replace your dentures, you shouldn't be entitled for the free service which is supposed to be dedicated for the poor. Private clinics are working as usual.
Moreover, you shall be very surprised with the huge price difference that you shall have to fork out. Dentists in Malta earn less than half what European dentists earn.

My mother always said that if you find a good dentist you don' t have to give him up even if you have to travel half way around the world.

Well thats no problem as it happens i already made another appointment cancelled the one in Malta to have my dentures replaced abroad cannot wait for all this uncertainness on the island and i know of others doing same - patients come first as far as i'm concerned and the government i reckon should honour all agreements and that goes for the medical side of things as well, you can't muck about with people's health were wages are concerned, people are more important then disputes.
