Annalise Agius, 23 of Cospicua was today jailed for three years after admitting to writing out cheques on a chequebook she found in Hamrun on December 6.

The chequebook belonged to Darren Borg and Graziella Fenech.

Ms Agius had, last October, been given a two-year jail term suspended for four years over another case.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera today jailed her for one year for the latest crime and declared the suspended jail term operative, effectively jailing her for three years.

In a separate case, brothers Carmelo and Benedetto Bonnici of Tarxien pleaded guilty to stealing construction industry equipment from Tal-Barrani Road, Tarxien, yesterday at 11.45 a.m. They also admitted relapsing.

Benedetto Bonnici was jailed for five months and his brother was jailed for nine months after Magistrate Scerri Herrera took into consideration that his (Carmelo’s) criminal record was “like a book”.
