Mcast: Investment at the right time

The re-setting up of Mcast has proved to be a success story. In the past few days 742 students graduated from this college from different institutes and in specialised fields.

The government has invested a lot in this college and in turn this investment is yielding fruit. In a knowledge-based economy the role of Mcast is of utmost importance. Effective organisations and companies today recognise their employees as strategically important human assets and the Mcast graduates are a fine example of well-trained and specialised employees.

The investment in Mcast is a typical example of government investment at the right time and in the right place. As a young person, I would rather opt that the government cuts down on subsidies and invests that same capital in the educational sector. It makes no economic sense in this day and age to subsidise consumption instead of investing in our country's human assets. In the coming years Mcast will double both its size and its population as investment will consist of no less than €116 million in this state-of-the-art college. This will undoubtedly stimulate growth through a sector which can reap the highest benefits.
