Maltese sign language project
One of the results of the Maltese Sign Language project was the translation into Maltese sign language of the Christmas story from the gospels of Luke and Matthew, and their recording on DVD and sign-writing printed formats.
On Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. at the University Chaplaincy, these will be launched at an event to be attended by representatives of the deaf community in Malta and Archbishop Paul Cremona.
ICT for industrial staff
An 'Equal Skills' course is to be held during February for the University's industrial and messenger staff organised by the Office for Human Resources Management and Development in collaboration with IT Services. The six-session course will be held from 4-6 p.m.
Equal Skills is a entry-level computer skills course aimed at complete beginners. It involves hands-on exercises on the computer and the completion of a workbook. It does not involve any examinations. Course participants who successfully complete the workbook are awarded an international certificate endorsed by the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) foundation.

Strategic innovation conference, masters
The University is hosting the first International Conference on Strategic Innovation and Future Creation on March 23 and 24.
The conference will have four streams: Creativity, Innovation Management, Foresight and Entrepreneurship and will include interactive panel discussions and workshops.
The main aim of the programme is the integration and practical application of core subjects from different perspectives, incorporations and institutions.
These four conference topics are also the key areas in a new international joint masters programme that the University will offer in October in partnership with the University of Potsdam, Germany, the University of Teeside, UK, and Turku School of Economics and Business Administration, Finland.
The conference and masters are being organised as part of the Einnform project which is partly funded by the EU under Erasmus Curriculum Development.
Edward de Bono will be one of the keynote speakers at the conference, which will be followed by the Edward de Bono seminar from March 25 to 28.

Business, management research conference
The latest thinking on research strategies, tactics and paradigms in business and management studies will be discussed at a European Conference on Research Methodology (ECRM 2009) being organised by the University's Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy on June 22-23 at the Old University Building in Valletta.
