Consumer Council appointment delay questioned
The Labour Party yesterday called on the government yesterday to explain why the Consumer Affairs Council was only reappointed last week after a year-long hiatus.
PL spokesman for consumer rights Silvio Parnis also called on Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi to fulfil a promise he had made to transform the National Euro Conversion Committee into a consumer-protection authority.
At a time when Maltese consumers were facing record cost-of-living increases, the urgency for such agency was more important than ever before, the Labour spokesman said.

Why does the PL always have to come up with a half knee jerk reaction to any Government announcement or action.
If Mr. Parnis and the PL were so concerned and cared for the Maltese consumers, where the heck have they been during this time. It is quite clear they neglegted in thier duties in not pushing the Government to constitute the Consumer Council earlier.
