Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton's house was broken into yesterday by a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves who forced open the front door and made off with belongings, police said.
Ms Hilton was not home during the early-morning burglary, said Richard French, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The burglary was reported by a security guard at Ms Hilton's gated Los Angeles residence, Mr French said.
Police did not release the value of the stolen items. But Mr French said the robber "ransacked" Ms Hilton's bedroom.
Ms Hilton, 27, a member of the family that founded the Hilton Hotel chain, is a fixture of the Hollywood social scene. She starred in reality television show The Simple Life and has pursued a career as an actress and singer.
