Two sizeable volumes, the 11th and 12th in the 360˚ series, barely suffice to feature just a selection of the architectural gems that were built in the years during the 268-year-long stay of the Knights in Malta.

Aptly titled Legacy Of An Order In Malta, Volume One covers the years 1530 to 1680 and the period 1681 to 1798 features in the second volume.

In a preface Fra Matthew Festing, Grand Master of the Order of St John, says the publications focus, "perhaps more than ever, on the remaining treasures in stone left by the past, our past, in Malta".

The two volumes are dedicated to the late Grand Master Fra Andrew Bertie, who also owned a house in Attard.

A spokesman for Miranda Publishers said three other volumes will be released in the new year: Wayside Chapels and the reprints of Malta 360˚ and Gozo 360˚, which will have fresh pictures.
