Airport passenger movements down 8% in November
Passenger movements at Malta International Airport decreased by 8% in November when compared to the same month in 2007, MIA said today. A total of 175,906 movements were handled, meaning that the shortfall was of 15,349 passenger movements on the scheduled and non-scheduled flights.
The drop follows a decrease of 6.1% in passenger movements in October.
Aircraft movements in November decreased by 8.3% for a total of 1,789.
MIA said the number of passengers from the UK dropped by 12.9% over the same period last year. The other main markets also followed the downward trend with Germany registering a drop of 8% and Italy -4.1%, whereas Belgium increased its traffic by 25.8% and France increased by 37.6%.
The figures for the January-November 2008 period show a 5.3% increase over the same period in 2007 which translates into 147,761 passenger movements. Aircraft movements decreased by a marginal – 0.6%.

Its going to hit us all sooner or later and Malta is no exception, it will probably feel much worse than Britain being a small Island. This is just the beginning unfortunately the worse for the much needed tourist industry is yet to come and it will go down in history as the worst year ever for Malta and Britain. Lets hope it will get better we don't want another war.
