The owner of a cabin cruiser is under investigation after the Armed Forces of Malta yesterday recovered 47 stacks of cigarettes which had been ditched in Grand Harbour.

An AFM patrol boat had intercepted the cabin cruiser navigating without lights which had raised suspicions by its manoeuvring. The sole passenger, a Maltese national, was observed ditching an object into the sea and then switching on his vessel's navigation lights.

The man was arrested by the AFM and handed over to the police for investigation.
