Participants of l-Istrina, including MPs, trade unions, non-governmental and sports organisations, local councils and the public, paraded down Republic Street this afternoon.

They were led by a band and some 35 Father Christmases. This parade, named Illistrina x'Parata followed another by In-Guardia historic re-enactors.

Other activities today included a car show in Palace Square by the Federation of Motor Sport Associations and street theatre and human statues in Republic Street.

There was carol singing at the ruins of the Opera House where a crib, including a small 'recreation' of Bethlehem, set up by the Culture Department of the Ministry of Education.

L-Istrina is this being being held on December 27 from the Montekristo Estates in Hal-Farrug.
